What is the Spanish Present Tense?

The Spanish present tense (presente de indicativo) is used to describe actions happening now, habitual actions, and general truths. It's equivalent to both the simple present ("I speak") and present continuous ("I am speaking") in English. The present tense is one of the most important tenses in Spanish and forms the foundation for learning other tenses. Once you master present tense conjugations, you'll be able to express a wide variety of ideas and situations.
